In Duo with Alena Kazantseva

In this program there is almost no room for cantilena, melismas and romantic moping. In three distinctive, realistic cycles, the authors tried to move as far away from metropolitan art as they could.

Mussorgsky wrote off his nephews’ dialogues while he was visiting his sister and recorded their conversational intonations with notes. He changed his focal length, looking at the world through children’s eyes. Small things and mundane situations suddenly look so big, so important.

Tchaikovsky was fascinated by the Russian countryside, and sought a characteristic sound palette for his miniatures. There are a total of 12 pieces in the cycle, and each has its own genre, as well as odor and temperature.

Weinberg wrote during the war to Peretz’s poems. Both artists came into contact with many peoples and cultures, which blended into a strong cocktail of different national genres, harmonies, intonations and subjects.

The vocal cycles are performed in Russian. Musicians provide translation into German.

Attention! Ideally, we would like to schedule all concerts with this program between February 16 and 26.
